SAMBINO
Sambino - 2 days old
Sambino's fiber color is a deep bitterwseet chocolate brown, hinting with "purple-ish" maroon hues.  It is the darkest shade of brown imaginable -- just short of black -- a shade not found on the color chart.
His nose, ear, crown and knees are black.

Update (Nov. 2009):  Two of Sambino's offspring have arrived!  Both bambinos are dark colored and are improved in quality compared to their dams. (See photos below.)

Let's talk color ...

5th generation dark colored fiber ...

Sambino's genetic makeup is slam packed with dark tones of brown (both sides of pedigree) and includes silver grey (from sire)!

Lineage -- Maternal Influences:
•  Sambino's dam, Liberty, is dark brown (reddish colored).
To date, 4 of her 5 crias are dark fawn or darker. The only light colored cria (Pinkerton), was sired by a Ramilo son with dominant Accoyo (white) genes.
•  Liberty's dam, Chaco, is light brown/fawn in color
•  Chaco's sire, Peruvian Mister Lothario, was dark fawn.
(previously owned by Humming Hill Suri Farm -- Ohio)  One of the first fawn suris born in the U.S. and a proven herdsire of champion & dark colored suris, Mister Lothario has been the foundation of full Peruvian colored suris on many farms.*
•  Mister Lothario's dam, Peruvian Sparkle, was dark fawn
(import from Peru)

Paternal Influences:
Sambino is sired by USA Moonshadow , (owned by A.I.A. Alpacas, Ohio)

Moonshadow
has fawn spots on his head and tail. Moonshadow has produced offspring (multiple champions) in almost every color on the chart, including grey.  His dam is medium silver grey! His sire is dark fawn!

USA Moonshadow
USA Moonshadow (owned by Virginia Lentz of A.I.A. Alpacas)
We have always been impressed with Moonshadow's offspring.  Moonshadow imparts upon his cria an exquisitely dense blanket of fiber with extreme luster and a slick & slippery hand.  We've witnessed many a magnificant Moonshadow offspring take Champion awards over their hotshot Accoyo rivals ...even in the large white classes!

Even more fascinating is the fact that Moonshadow's full Peruvian lineage is comprised of NO ACCOYO genes!  Virginia Lentz of A.I.A. Alpacas truly has a prize in Moonshadow!

%Accoyo:  None

Fiber Description:  Great coverage, locking and density.  Luster to burn!!!!

One can always distinguish a Moonshadow offspring by their marked abundance of glaring luster -- one of Sambino's most deliciously obvious endowments  ...beside his remarkable color, that is!
Sambino is simply stunning!
